Us, too -- helped us remember why we didn't move all the way back to Minnesota...

Today it is 40 degrees F -- daytime highs are predicted to be above 40 for the rest of the week, so I wonder how long it will be before the people down the street, whose cars are still completely plowed in, will be able to move them.

Hi Kate,
I am a "new knitter", approximately 6 months. I find the information on here very helpful, and want to encourage you to put all the information you can think of on here. I have taken a class from you and think that you are an amazing instructor. There is a snow storm coming--but I am hoping that our class on pattern wrangling can happen before it begins to snow!!!

I haven't looked that hard for information on the technique. I did join the Double Knitting group on Yahoo, but the discussion there seems to be for the tubular form of double knitting.

There is a free pattern on knittinghelp.com for a potholder done in reversible double knitting - that is what I practiced with to familiarize myself with the technique: http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/free_patterns/heart-dk-hot-pad.php

I see that there are now videos on the page - those weren't there before! How nice!

The pattern I'm using for my throw was published & distributed by Plymouth Yarns, several years ago. I don't know if it's still available. Herrschners has two afghans in this technique in their 2006 Knit Afghans book. As you note, all of these are rectangles, however.

I have a couple of ideas for reversible vests swirling around in my head - armhole and neckline shaping would probably be fairly straightforward, but shoulder shaping and seaming will require some thought and experimentation. Watch this space: when the pattern is available, it will include detailed instructions and explanations. I want my patterns to be educational, and to expand the user's skills.

I am wondering where your found additional information on double knitting???

I have seen some, for rectangles, like your throw...bu have been wanting to try my hand at double knitting a reversible poncho. Mentally stuck at increases/decreases for triangle, so square shape probably better...but bigger issue is neck hole shaping. Also, to make it more difficult, I would really like to use short row method I have been reading about, and have the nicer decrease border, but boy that seems like a LOT of twisting work.

Your feedback on my idea would be appreciated.

I managed to find your blog this time.

I thought class went really well this morning and I am probably overly confident about my abilty to pick-up the wraps. We'll see if I have a matching pair of socks next weekend.
